  1. Hello Peter,

I am writing you as I have noticed a discrepancy in your cruising guide in reference to the Petpeswick Inlet. Your guide states that there is only 5 feet of draft allowable 2 hours after low tide. This is incorrect.

The proper draft clearance is 6.5 feet at low tide. There are two spots where this depth can be seen. One as you cross the bar at the mouth of the inlet and one spot almost into the club area just by Mouse Island. The shallowing area bun Mouse Island has been marked with an additional navigational mark this summer.

I can confirm these depths to be accurate as I have been in and out the inlet this summer dozens of times with sailboats from a 4 to 7 foot draft. Never once having an issue.

My concern is that the inaccurate information in your guide will deter visitors from visiting our yacht club and hurt our sustainability as a small community club. We rely on transients and cruisers to stop by for short term rentals as part of our bottom line to ensure that we are able to continue offering youth sailing programs in the community.

Thank you very much for understanding.

  2. I have been unable to put new posts on this, don't know why , think it somehting to do with an upgrade but I am tired of trying to fix it. I will be making a new facebook page, which is more accessible than this. Probable title " the original cruising guide to nova scotia"

  3. I'm writing this just before heading to your sailing vessel .. with Sock Monkey (who you had met last night with fellow sailors, John from RI, and Mike from Cornwall aka SV Jenna's Journey). Looking forward to assist you in the "Gentleman's race" at noon! Especially on your beautiful boat that you and your wife built!
